Cuernavaca is situated 56 miles South of México city in the spectacular valley of Cuernavaca, at an elevation of 5,118 ft. Dubbed "the city of the endless spring" because of its famous mild warm weather and luscious vegetation, Cuernavaca enjoys one of the best weathers in the world, temperatures there average 67 F to 74 F, with summer rains from June to September and an annual average precipitation of 47 inches. Several nice cities are relatively close to Cuernavaca. Some of these are Mexico city (56 mi.), Puebla (109 mi.), Taxco (71 mi.), and Acapulco (186 mi.).

Cuernavaca was home of the "Conquistador" Hernando Cortez where he built a magnificent "Palacio" that was finished in 1535. In addition to Cortez's "Palacio" Cuernavaca possesses many outstanding Spanish colonial buildings of the XVI and XVIII centuries. Numerous remarkable pre-Columbian archeological sites such as Xochicalco, and El Tepozteco also surround Cuernavaca. Little known by non-locals is the gorgeous 656-ft San Anton waterfall in the middle of Cuernavaca. Fine silver jewelry made by artisans from Taxco is readily available in Cuernavaca.
